Breed History

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed originated in the mid to late 1800's in the UK in the Black Country around a town called Staffordshire (hence the name.) The original Staffy was said to be the product of an English White Terrier and a Bull Dog. These dogs were originally bred as fighting dogs after bull baiting was considered inhumane and outlawed.

Today, the breed is commonly known as the 'Nanny Dog' because of its utmost reputation with children and families.
